Why Organic?
What does organic even mean? And why should we seek out products that are organic?
Well the definition of organic is “of, relating to, or derived from living matter”. So if it is not living mater or doesn’t come from living matter, it isn’t organic!
That would not include chemicals, fertilizers, growth stimulants, antibiotics, genetic modifications or pesticides. What does that leave? Plants that grow, animals that live and breathe and seeds and their fruit. When we take out the additives, we get what just is. Organic! Natural.
So why buy organic? Because it is more basic, more like life itself, without additives, unnatural changes and modifications. By surrounding ourselves with organic products, by eating organic foods, we are essentially supporting life itself. Plus, we are not contributing to the industries creating the unnatural chemicals and processes bringing the non-organic products to market.
This site is dedicated to spotlighting the best of organic products: additive and pesticide free food, natural baby products, basic home goods… How to get closest to the beginning and what is, without that which does not exist in nature. Hopefully you will find the information and reviews helpful in making good choices for yourself, your family, your community and most likely, for your planet too.
One warning: It’s not always easy. When you seek out natural alternatives to the easier to find and often cheaper options, it may take some extra effort on your part. “Organic” is just a word. It isn’t trademarked or regulated. Even when finding things on this site, though we do our best to bring you the best organic options, do your research and read the fine print. Just because it says so, sadly it does’t mean it is. And can truly, totally organic living even be achieved with our current delivery system for goods?
Maybe not. Hopefully, we can at least move in the right direction. After all, we can’t all raise chickens and grow veggies in our backyard!
Explore and live well!
